Cifran

Cifran is a medication that is used in treating certain types of bacterial infections such as infections of the prostate, kidney, bladder, skin, lungs, bowel, bones and joints. The active ingredient that is in this medication is called Cifran and is listed in a group of antibiotics known as quinolones. Cifran works by destroying the bacteria that causes the infections in your body. This will not work against viral infections like colds or the flu.  While there is no indication that this medication is addictive in nature at all, it is recommended that children and teenagers not take this medication.

There are some instances in which it is recommended that you not take Cifran. These include if you have any allergies to the main ingredient in Cifran, Cifran along with additional quinolone antibiotics like nalidixic acid, moxifloxacin or norfloxacin. You will know if you have an allergic reaction to any of these medications because you will experience symptoms such as wheezing, itchiness, hives, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties and swelling of face, lips and tongue.

Cifran should be avoided if you also taking a muscle relaxant medication called tizanidine. Cifran has been known to interact with tizanidine, which may cause unwanted side effects including drowsiness and low blood pressure levels.
